Timber Bay Lodge and Houseboats is located on Birch Lake near Ely   Minnesota and the Boundary Waters Wilderness Canoe Area (BWCA). We are a completely modern resort (with both cabins and houseboats!) located deep   in the heart of the Superior National Forest in Minnesota among towering Norway   pines, birch, and spruce trees, designed to satisfy the vacation dreams of your entire family or fishing group. Here in a park-like setting you will find  comfortable log-sided cabins with fireplaces, large decks and beautiful lake views.

We feature a full service marina, safe sandy swim beach, a variety of recreational opportunities as well as organized children’s activities. Timber Bay is the perfect place for your spring fishing trip, summer family vacation or fall   getaway. Whether it’s a houseboat vacation or a stay at our family resort of cabins,  you’ll always be surrounded by the peacefulness of Northern Minnesota’s Birch   Lake.

Timber Bay MN Cabins are widely spaced for your privacy. Each having a large deck with deck furniture and a gas BBQ grill for  outdoor grilling.  All cabins are equipped with the convienances of home such as microwaves, automatic coffee makers, flat screen TVs with DVD players and satellite . There is WiFi available in the office area. Bed linens, blankets, dishes, and cooking utensils  are supplied in all our  cabins.  Ranging from a two bedroom to a six bedroom plus a loft we can accommodate groups of many size including your family reunion. Our Bear Trap cabin can comfortably sleep up to 19 persons

Birch Lake near Ely, MN is never crowded and is ideal for boating, camping, fishing, canoeing, swimming or  just plain relaxing. Feel free to enjoy our canoes and kayaks at no cost as our guest. Being 80% undeveloped, you will feel like you have the lake to yourself. At the end of the day enjoy a starlit sky or maybe even northern lights from the deck of your cabin or from the beach enjoying a marshmallow roast.

When you’re ready for a change of pace, you can always take in a round of golf at one of the areas three championship golf courses –   The Legend and Quarry at Giants Ridge and the Wilderness at Fortune Bay. These   three golf courses have helped Northern Minnesota become a golfing vacation  destination. Giants Ridge was recently named as one of the Worlds Top 6 Golf destinations. If you enjoy golf but prefer to take it a little easier, the Babbitt Golf course is just 3 miles away.
